G-Wiz Electric Car Charging in LondonThe Reva G-Wiz is the most established electric car in the UK and is currently leading the pack but competition is growing rapidly with competitors such as the Think City, Mega City and Quiet Car1.  It is only designed for driving at slow speeds in cities and is a bit odd looking.  It's possibly a bit of a marmite electric car 'you love it or hate it'......

Mega City

NICE Mega City Electric CarThe Mega City recently became the principle competitor to the Reva G-Wiz as a suitable way of being environmentally friendly and still driving around in London.  The Mega City is actually an existing petrol car made by French manufacturers Aixam.  NICE have teamed up with Aixam to produce this electrified version of the Mega City.....

The Sakura Maranello4 Electric CarA new electric car introduced to Britain from Italy, the Sakura Maranello4 is a small and quite stylish electric car well suited for city driving.  Note this car is classed as a quadricycle (like the G-Wiz) which comes with the usual caveats about not being fully crash tested or suitable for anything but slow-speed city driving.....

Tazzari ZeroThe Italian designed and built Tazzari Zero has made it to the shores of the UK, where it is now on sale from the specialist electric car retailer EVstores. 

This is another urban electric car offering with a modest range and top speed however, we think this is definitely a good looking electric car and helps to banish the idea that green driving comes at a price to style....

The Stevens ZeCar Electric CarThe ZeCar® is titled as 'a great city run about'. It is one of the larger electric cars available - 5 doors and seating for up to 5 with space for luggage or shopping.   It is not one of the prettier electric cars available but it is a good effort by a UK-based company which has a really strong environmental drive behind the whole design and delivery.....

stevens zevan electric vanThe ZeVan® is the commercial offering from Stevens.  It is based on the same design as ZeCar and the 2 vehicles look incredibly similar.  The Ze concept perhaps works better as an electric van from a looks point of view and offers some interesting potential at the compact end of the commercial vehicle market.....

G-Wiz L-ion

Reva G-Wiz L-ion SilverThe G-Wiz L-ion was released in the UK in 2009.  Reva are using the same retailer - GoinGreen.  This is one of the first mainstream electric vehicle to be powered by Lithium-ion batteries a technology which significantly extends the charge and range of the car.  The top speed is till the same as the G-Wiz but the range is almost doubled to 75 miles.....

Ev'ie Electric CarTo create the Ev'ie, the Electric Car Company based in the UK in collaboration with Citroen have taken an 'ordinary' C1 and added a battery!  This was launched onto the streets of London in April 2009.  The Ev'ie looks like a regular car because, on the outside (and much of the inside), it is regular car.....

Mitsubishi i-MiEVThe Mitsubishi i-MiEV has been available in the UK for a month now.  It's another major contender in the UK electric car market from an established car manufacturer.  Coming in at exactly the same price it is in direct competition with the Nissan Leaf.  Who will win the battle?  Well, we think there is clearly more than enough space in the market for both....
