Electric car trial

Electric cars trial - a one year trial of low carbon vehicles has been launched in the UK to see how the country will need to adapt if it is to achieve a green transport future.

A range of trials will take place across the UK over the coming year.  This first i-MiEVs trial is being run by CABLED - the Coventry and Birmingham Low Emission Vehicle Demonstrators consortium.  25 Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicles i-MiEVs have been given to independent drivers in Brimingham.  A range of test drivers, include Quentin Willson (Fifth Gear motoring expert), will try out the electric cars.  Aston University will monitor how they are used and importantly anaylse what kind of infrastructure might be needed to accommodate widespread use.

The trial starts today and is part of a £25 million scheme organised by the Government's - Technology Strategy Board.
