Copenhagen Electric Cars

Climate change - we're pleased to see some of our electric car favourites centre stage at the Copenhagen summit this week.  Peugeot, Citroen, Think, and Renault are all displaying their electric cars (along with other manufacturers of hybrids and 'greener' cars).

COP15 or the United Nations Climate Change conference opened today in Copenhagen and runs till Dec 18th.  It basically brings world leader together to try to agree emission targets post Kyoto and do something practical to address climate change.  Whether this will be successful and all the political ins and outs are well beyond the scope of this blog, however, electric vehicles should have an important part to play in this process (along with renewable enery, recycling, better production design etc, etc)

So back to electric cars, who is there?

The Electric Car Corporation (ECC), has supplied 60 Citroen C1 ev’ie electric cars to the COP15 conference.  The Citroen C1 ev’ie is available in the UK.

THINK, are also at the conference.  'Move About', a Norwegian car-share fleet operator, are providing 15 THINK City courtesy vehicles to the conference.  Only the Think City is currently available in the UK but the Thinks other models, the Think Ox and Think Open should be on their way over here soon.

Renault will also be there showing off three from their range of four electric vehicles, the Renault Fluence Z.E, Renault Van Z.E and the Renault Kangoo Z.E.

So let's just hope the 'good' and the 'great' can put differences aside and come up with a truely worldwide solution to a global issue.
